Review: Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm

About two months ago, I had a skincare epiphany. I discovered Caroline Hirons, skincare expert & blogger extraordinaire. She was in a video with Pixiwoo on Body Talk Daily, talking about her routine, tips, & recommendations. She suggests using a cleansing balm for taking off makeup & for cleansing in general. I can't afford the famous Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, but I have discovered this alternative.

This cleansing balm in the packaging is solid, but once you scoop some out, it becomes quite soft. The scent is semi-strong & reminds me of lemon. When it's on my face, I don't really smell it. The scent doesn't bother me, but I'm not all that sensitive to fragrance. I like to dab the product all over my face & then massage it into the skin. It turns into an thin oil quickly & begins to cleanse. I like to spend at least a minute or two moving the product around my face. It takes off my makeup fairly easily, even waterproof mascara. I had on Covergirl Lashblast Volume in the waterproof formula, which is notorious for being impossible to remove. This cleansing balm took it off after a little extra massaging. I was honestly surprised, in a good way. When I'm all done, I run a clean washcloth under hot water & towel off.

I chose this cleanser because of its fairly clean ingredients list and the organic label. It doesn't contain mineral oil, which has been controversial lately, but I've been avoiding it to be on the safe side. It doesn't leave any residue on my skin. My skin feels clean, yet moisturized. I was worried that it would make me feel oily, since it's essentially an oil, but that hasn't been an issue. It hasn't irritated my skin at all & is now a staple in my skincare routine.

What skincare products have you been using lately?
